BFI is getting ready to start the London Film Festival that will take place from October 5th to 16th: lots of interesting movies, short film and documentaries. There will be also the opportunity to visit different venues for to watch and discuss movies and episodes of incredible TV shows as Black Mirror.

Join co-creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones, and director Joe Wright, in conversation to discuss the latest series of Black Mirror, following the European premiere of a brand new episode. Black Mirror has already had two acclaimed seasons and Brooker and Jones have crafted six new standalone episodes for Netflix with visionary storytelling and sly satire as they explore the impacts of advancing digital technologies on the way we live.

In the first episode Nosedive, an emotionally fragile woman (played by Bryce Dallas Howard) becomes increasingly obsessed with achieving a high personality score on a global social networking app. BFI is delighted to welcome these three visionary storytellers to the Festival to discuss their work.

Join Speculative architect Liam Young and acclaimed electronic producer Forest Swords for the world premiere of their audio-visual tour, In the Robot Skies, the first science fiction film to be shot entirely through autonomous pre-programed drones. This ‘musicfilmdream’ is a haunting cinematic meditation on life, death and what may lie beyond. This presentation will feature a live rendition of Fisher Turner’s score.

There will be also a series of Screen Talks: four meetings with acclaimed directors and actors. One of the most anticipated includes Dev Patel and the Academy Awards winner Nicole Kidman. Nicole and Dev join BFI London Film Festival Director, Clare Stewart to discuss respective career highlights.

They’ll also examine the craft of acting, and how they approach characters based on real people, particularly in reference to their latest film, Lion, the Festival’s Amex Gala and the true story of Saroo Brierley. (We have already written an article about the much anticipated Lion, so it is definitely a must-go!)
