Animal welfare documentary 'The Last Pig' comes To London!

Other | Wednesday 28th March 2018 | David

Most of us prefer not think about the fact that the meat we eat was once part of a living, breathing animal, but the documentary The Last Pig tackles this dilemma head-on.

Centred around a pig farmer named Bob Comis, who does his best to provide a humane life for his pigs, the film explores the close bond that Comis forms with the animals and the hardships he faces at inevitably having to send them to the slaughterhouse. If you are a regular meat eater, this is definitely essential viewing.

The Last Pig was directed by Allison Argo and has already had a somewhat successful festival run, having been screened at the Provincetown International, Mill Valley, Woodstock Film Festivals. It also won the Zelda Penzel Giving Voice to the Voiceless Award at the Hamptons International Film Festival, and is likely to pick up more accolades as it continues its run. The film will also be screened in London on March 28, with proceeds going towards the Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary in Essex. Get your tickets here.

Even though The Last Pig contains no graphic images, the trailer below is still bound to have a resonating effect on most viewers, especially those who eat pork.
