Top 5 Bond Villains of All Time

The release of the latest James Bond movie, Spectre, is great news for Bond fans worldwide. However, with the casting of two-time Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz as the main 'baddie' this time around, it is highly expected of him to produce a role rivalling his portrayal of Colonel Hans Landa in Tarantino's 2009 film Inglorious Basterds for which he won his first Oscar. Of course, he has the potential to become a classic Bond Villain (his creepy German-ness definitely works in his favour) but can he rival the Top 5 Bond Villains of all time?
5. Franciso Scaramanga (The Man With the Golden Gun) - Christopher Lee
It wouldn't be a Top Villains list without the inclusion of the late, great Christoper Lee. Ian Fleming's original choice to play Dr. No, Lee was never given the chance to play a Bond villain until Roger Moore took up the mantle of 007.
His inclusion in this list is purely down to the fact that he is one of the best villainous actors of all time; stints as Count Dooku, Saruman, the Jaberwocky, Count Dracula and... Prince Philip, all mean that his name will never be forgotten. Oh, and his stint as the triple-nipple assassin, Francisco Scaramanga, will live long in the mind of Bond fans too.
4. Ernst Stavro Blofield (Various films) - Various Actors
Funnily enough, this is the character who Christoph Waltz is going to revive, and, after featuring in 7 Bond films, and having been played by 4 different actors over the years, Ernst Stavro Blofield definitely deserves his place in this list. However, these aren't the reasons why he features in my top 5 Bond Villains of all time.
Blofield is the typical villain, giving off creepy vibes with his bald head, scarred face, Kim Jong Un-style shirt and white cat, whilst wishing to rule the world. Yes, Blofield and his cat are the inspiration for Dr. Evil and his feline sidekick, Mr. Bigglesworth. This may be a personal choice, but there is no doubt that Dr. Evil is one of the greatest comedy villains of all time! But on a serious note, the fact that Blofield is considered to be the classic villain, a proper evil villain, means he secures his place as one of the greatest Bond villains ever.
3. Jaws (The Spy Who Loved Me/ Moonraker) - Richard Kiel
Played by the gigantic 7ft 2" actor Richard Kiel, Jaws deserves a place on this list purely for the fact that he looks like a Scooby Doo villain. With a mouth full of metal that can chew threw steel and a face that only a mother could love, Jaws was a hard bastard who gave 007 a fair few scrapes. The only good thing about Jaws was that he went and fell in love in Moonraker, and became a good-guy; even though this goes against everything this list stands for, you have to give him credit, if he can get a girl, anyone can.
2. Alec Trevelyan (GoldenEye) - Sean Bean
Everyone's favourite dead guy, Sean Bean, brought Agent 006 to life in 1995's GoldenEye. Former MI6 spy, Alec Trevelyan makes the list for his twisted back story and the fact that he knows 007 very well - probably more than every other Bond villain. Funnily enough, Sean Bean auditioned for the role of James Bond in this film, but was pipped to it by Pierce Brosnan; he did get the consolation prize of then trying to kill Brosnan's Bond, however, as always with Sean Bean... it was he who died.

1. Raoul Silva (Skyfall) - Javier Bardem
There is something about Javier Bardem's camp-looking Raoul Silva that gives the audience the chills. We first see him in an anti-villanic manner; he slowly walks towards Bond, opens his shirt and trails his fingers across his chest (hardly the scary Bond villain we are used to). His personal vendetta against MI6 is what makes him so creepy, he is hellbent on making the organisation feel his wrath. Unlike many other Bond villains, Silva successfully kills M, the head of MI6.
There's a reason why many critics at the time of release were comparing Bardem's character to Heath Ledger's 'Joker' from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight; it's because, simply put, he is absolutely frightening, thus making him the number 1 Bond Villain of all time (in my eyes).
