Bat-fans, worry no longer! The upcoming DC Extended Universe’s The Batman movie has now found its new director.
On Jan 30, Affleck stated that he would be stepping away from directing the project, since he was starring in the film he could not handle the responsibilities of both.
This has now provided the opportunity for the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves to grab the reigns for the DCEU movie, according to a report in Variety.
This is great news for our caped crusader, as now the much-anticipated movie is one step closer to being completed. Affleck can now primarily focus on continuing his role as the masked vigilante, which he debuted in the second DCEU movie Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, with his role receiving high praise.
“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” Affleck mentioned whilst announcing his directorial departure. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”
We can only hope that this was the last obstacle for the film to overcome, as the actor is also the screenplay writer for the movie and executive producer. He has already expressed slight differences of opinion with the studio, since the studio aimed for hitting their release date whereas Affleck is focused on perfecting the script.
The Batman release date is TBD.
