Diana - UK Trailer Released
On August 31st, 1997 the news of Princess Diana's tragic death sent shockwaves over the world. Even at just five years old, I along with the rest of the British population will always remember where they were when they heard the news.
Almost sixteen years later, the first UK film trailer has been released. This biopic will no doubt provoke a reaction as it follows the controversial love affair between the late Diana, Princess of Wales and heart surgeon Hasnat Khan. The film will focus on the last two years of the Princess' life and will explore how the couple first met.
The trailer offers a new perspective with the intriguing statement 'Sometimes the legend is not the true story.' However, if you ignore who the film is about, this film just seems like another film about forbidden love and heartache.
The Royal Family are yet to comment on their reaction to the film release. Once they do decide to make a statement, it will be interesting to hear what they think about the representation of a relationship they no doubt wished had remained away from the eyes of the press.
The title role will be portrayed by Naomi Watts, most famous for her role as the leading lady Ann Darrow in the blockbuster King Kong. Her lover will be played by Naveen Andrews, most famous for his role as Sayid in the hit U.S TV series Lost.
The film will be released in the UK on the 20th of September. Watch the trailer below.
