The Heat: The mad, the bad and the downright loony!

The latest release in action-comedy

The tag line is ‘Good cop, mad cop,’ and that’s exactly what this new action-comedy The Heat written by Katie Dippold promises. If you loved the brassy hilarity of Bridesmaids, or the vivacious characters of Pitch Perfect this is definitely the new must-see for you.

The film directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) stars Sandra Bullock as FBI special agent Sarah Ashburn who, despite being a skilled investigator, is detested by her fellow colleagues for her arrogance and inability to work with other agents. When the opportunity for promotion to the head of her New York field office arises, Ashburn is sent by her superiors to Boston to investigate Larkin, the central figure of a large drugs empire and told that, if she can prove herself capable of working effectively and cooperatively with her field partner, she will be considered for the position. It is here that Ashburn’s ‘by-the-book’ ethos crashes head on with the riotous and outspoken conduct of her assigned partner Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy). The film tracks the unlikely team in their pursuit of Boston’s deadliest criminal and the madcap escapades their investigation leads them into as they strive to take him down.

The Heat has already generated $164.7 million in worldwide box office sales after opening on June 28th 2013. Review website Rottentomatoes.com has given the film 64% based on 135 reviews. They conclude that: "The Heat is predictable, but Melissa McCarthy is reliably funny and Sandra Bullock proves a capable foil."

The Heat is the comedy film of the summer and is set to not only be met with the same financial and critical success as Bridesmaids, but earn a place as a comedy classic in it's own wild right.
