Summer Screen at Somerset House

Other | Monday 29th July 2013 | Ayse

London’s favourite open-air cinema returns this August with the Summer Screen at Somerset House hosted by Film 4. This 14 night homage to motion picture (beginning August 8th – 21st) sees thousands of London residents and tourists from around the globe annually gather in the ‘Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court’, to enjoy a selection of silver screen, retro classic and modern favourites. As a regular favourite in the London calendar the outdoor event boasts a state of the art screen and full surround-sound, paired with the summer breeze in your hair and the cosmopolitan hum of a London Night.

This year’s programme contains such favourites as American, teen sensation Mean Girls (10th August), crime classic The Untouchables (11th August), and the musical show stopper Guys and Dolls (12th August).

And additionally, for the most dedicated film fanatics, there will also be a series of ‘Behind the Screen’ talks and interviews that accompany the showcase. These offer you the chance to talk intimately with some of the most talented young screenwriters, directors and industry specialists of the time, view the world premieres of short films, and learn little-known trivia about your favourite films.

Tickets are on sale both for ‘Summer Screen’ and ‘Behind the Screen’ on the Somerset House website.

This is a MUST for anyone in London. Not only for those with a passion for films, but also those who want the chance to experience one of the best film events  that London has to offer! So what are you waiting for? Get a group of friends together, load up the car with sleeping bags and deckchairs, and start rehearsing those Mean Girls quotes. This is an event that promises a fantastic, relaxing night out with friends and the perfect way to enjoy the summer weather- fingers crossed that there isn’t a 30% chance that it’s already raining…
