The Coen Brothers Will Script The Scarface Remake

Other | Friday 10th February 2017 | David

The legendary filmmaking duo will provide the script for the upcoming Scarface remake.

Scarface remains one of the most beloved gangster movies of all time, so the news of a remake may seem pointless at first. But thanks to Variety, we've learned that there's serious talent onboard, so it may not be so pointless after all.

The new version of Scarface will be scripted by none other than the legendary Coen brothers, the two who wrote and directed classic films such as Fargo, The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men and A Serious Man. If anyone can breath new life into Scarface, it's them.

Universal will handle distribution duties, with Marc Shmuger, Scott Stuber, and Dylan Clark onboard as producers, although a director has yet to be confirmed.

The original Scarface was loosely based on the 1932 film of the same name and told the story of Tony Montana. A poor Cuban immigrant who rises through the ranks to become one of the most powerful mobsters in the United States. Rogue One's Diego Luna will play Montana in the new version.

So make sure you make a date with your 'little friend' when the Scarface remake hits screens on August 10, 2018.
