Pacific Rim 2 Finally Announced With Surprise Director
The robot-monster mash up Pacific Rim has finally gotten a sequel announced after being stuck in limbo for so long since its release in 2013.
The sequel will however, be directed by TV creator of Spartacus and show-runner of Marvel’s Daredevil series, Steven S. DeKnight as opposed to Guillermo Del Toro who directed the first film.
Despite this though, Del Toro is still pushing for the film to be made, and is taking a step back from directing in order to help produce the movie, allowing DeKnight to take the helm.
He posted on Twitter about the project saying:
Met w DeKnight and we are all so happy with our choice to take Pac Rim 2to where we know it can go!!

Known mostly for directing, writing and other extensive roles in the TV industry, this will be the first ever film that Steven S. DeKnight will direct and even though a script has been written by Jon Spaihts, DeKnight may still take a look and modify it before production of the film begins.
And while other details of the film, like story and timetable, still remain a mystery, one thing is for sure, we can expect more spectacular fight scenes between giant Mecha Jaegers and the Kaiju.
