Avatar director, James Cameron will face high expectations with the film’s sequel, which is filming at the moment. However new reports from Avatar 2’s producer, Jon Landau has stated that Cameron is raising the bar yet again by including scenes of underwater performance capture.

Landau has given only a tiny insight into the how exactly they are shooting the sequel explaining ‘We have kept a team of digital artists on from Avatar in order to test how we can create performance capture underwater.’ However these underwater shots are, in true James Cameron style, will go above and beyond as Landau went on to explain how ‘We could simulate water [in computer graphics], but we can't simulate the actor's experience, so we are going to capture performance in a tank.’

The producer then went on to confirm that Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 ‘will wrap up the story arcs of our two main characters.’ We cannot wait to see how James Cameron plans on building upon the huge success of Avatar.

Avatar 2 is scheduled to be released in the UK on 19 December 2014, with Avatar 3 set to arrive on 18 December 2015.
