The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey based from a short novel ‘Lord of the rings’ which was first published in 1937.
An epic fantasy adventure film which is directed by Peter Jackson, the story is divided into three films and tells us a story set in middle-earth 50 years before “The Lord of the Rings”. This became a blockbuster and was an Oscar winning film which was also produced by Jackson.
The story follows the character Bilbo Baggins who is given an adventure to recover the lost dwarf kingdom, He finds himself joining a group of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Throughout Bilbo Baggins journey meets a creature named Gollum who changes his life forever. While Bilbo Baggins is alone with Gollum, he discovers many new things and also gains a possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unpredictable and beneficial powers. A simple, gold ring that is secured to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.
Some of the reviews suggested that the film was way too long and infrequently loses its way from the actual storyline. Some of the critics argued the usage of the high speed 3D cameras and filming techniques presented on the screen gave the audience ‘motion sicknesses’. The film was shot at a camera speed of 48 frames per second which is double the amount of what is normally used. However other critics have said the film’s visual and special effects didn’t fail to impress them and Jackson should be proud of his achievement. The reviews were impressed with the acting and impressed with Jackson as he decided to stay true to the book and didn’t change it.
The unexpected Journey is a classic adventure expedition which includes amazing characters, with an epic setting and a film packed with action. The Film will be released on 14th December 2012, so be one of the first to watch it in the cinemas and see what you think of film. Is it a film that’s worth watching? And would you recommend to others?
