Raindance Film Festival

Monday 1st October 2012 | Olga

Autumn- a season typically riddled with nostalgia, dampened by dreary weather and, for some, the start to a new academic year, promising a lot of stress and headaches. Right? Perhaps.  However, the start of October is also marked by The Raindance Film Festival in London, cited by Variety as one of the world’s top 50 ‘unmissable film festivals’.  This year Raindance celebrates it’s 20th anniversary with an impressive line up of independent films.  The festival has a lot of talent to showcase, having already seen the premiers of well-acclaimed films, like: Pulp Fiction, The Blair Witch Project, Oldboy and Memento.

Although it started last Wednesday 26th September, there are still plenty of things to look forward to before its closing finale on the 7th October.  The best is always saved for last.  Be sure to check out some of our own home-grown talent with films, such as Live East Die Young, set to reveal a darker side to the East London party scene.  Love Tomorrow, is another London-based film, set in Camden and perpetuated by a romantic love-story.  The festival is bursting with a plethora of films to discover, closing with Salt by Diego Rougier, a post- modern Western set in Chile.

Besides films, don’t miss out on the courses and workshops that Raindance has to offer for all of those thriving filmmakers…but be sure to book your tickets in advance!
