Aardman animations' go back to the bronze age with Early Man
Arguably one of the most well-known stop motion production companies in history, Aardman Animations have given us some truly wonderful pieces of cinema over the years. For their latest project, the Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run creators have decided to go back to the very beginning to explore the dawn of humankind (albeit not in an entirely historically accurate way) with their new comedy Early Man.
Directed by four-time Oscar winner Nick Park, Early Man features the voice of fellow Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne as Dug, a young caveman who sets out on a quest to save his village after the land is claimed by Lord Nooth (voiced by Loki actor Tom Hiddleston). And if you’re a football fan, well let’s just say that in the world of Early Man, the beautiful game was clearly popular in prehistoric times.
The film also stars Maisie Williams, Timothy Spall, Richard Ayoade, and Johnny Vegas, with Park himself voicing a pig named Hognob.
Like most of Aardman’s films, Early Man will no doubt be an Oscar contender come next year’s awards season. If you’d like to get in on the Bronze Age action before then the film is now playing in cinemas across the UK.
