Russell Crowe teasing to play Cable in Deadpool sequel?

With the sucess of the first Deadpool movie in 2016, the sequel for the movie is highly anticipated. One of the main reasons for the anticipation is seeing the debut of Cable, a popular character from the comics who constantly appears in Deadpool stories.
Whilst the character has yet to be cast at the time of writing, one name continuously pops up in the news and that is Academy Award winner Russell Crowe.
The rumours started with a series of tweets between Cable creator Rob Liefeld and Crowe himself. The conversation started with Liefeld tweeting to the actor “you should read for #Cable in Deadpool and X-Force. Just sayin…” which prompted a quick response from Crowe who said “I should read for it?”
He then followed it up with another tweet stating that if Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds was interested in the idea, he would find a way. This seemingly was the end of any discussions. Until now.
Crowe recently tweeted out again a fan made picture as the actor dressed as Cable to Liefeld, starting up these rumours once again.

Crowe isn’t a stranger to the superhero genre as we have seen him play the role of Jor El, who we know to be Superman’s real father in Man of Steel.
With no real news, as to who is going to be cast as Cable, we should perhaps take these tweets a little bit more seriously if they have started gaining some steam.
Deadpool 2 has yet to see a release date, but studio is aiming for a 2018 release.
