The highly anticipated final movie in the Wolverine franchise Logan is proving to be a big hit with the critics, as the film currently has a showing of 96 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

According to the websites critical consensus, “Hugh Jackman makes the most of his final outing as Wolverine with a gritty, nuanced performance in a violent but surprisingly thoughtful superhero action film that defies genre conventions.”

The film is yet to earn Rotten Tomatoes’ 'Certified Fresh' badge since it does not enough critical reviews, but it appears that is in the movies near future.

Currently, Logan, which is directed by James Mangold, is easily the best reviewed of the Wolverine trilogy movies, with X-Men Origins: Wolverine scoring 38 percent, whilst The Wolverine scores 69 per cent.

The movie even bests the top rated X-Men movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past which is currently rated at 91 percent, so time will tell if Logan remains on top as more reviews come in. It is safe to say however that it seems that this movie is a must see.

Logan is set in the year 2029, where mutants are no longer existent. All that remains is an old and struggling Charles Xavier and a weary Logan. The years have affected Logan as his healing power has deteriorated. When a young female mutant needs his help, Logan must unleash his claws once more. One last stand.

Logan stars Hugh Jackman, Boyd Holbrook (Donald Pierce), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Dafne Keen (Laura Kinney/X-23), Doris Morgado (Maria), Stephen Merchant (Caliban), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Gabriela), and Richard E. Grant (Dr. Zander Rice). James Mangold is directing and helped on the screenplay along with Scott Frank and Michael Green.

Logan hits theatres on March 1 in the UK.
