Action, Thrills and Laughs: This Month in Film

Other | Friday 19th February 2016 | Arash

2016 is shaping up to be a promising year for films, and as the year kicks off let’s see what we have to look forward to on the big screen, take a look at a list of our top upcoming films to watch.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Let’s start the list off with one of the most anticipated superhero movies since it was announced in 2013 at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Batman v Superman, as the name might suggest, pits the Caped Crusader against the Man of Steel, the heroes will also be joined by Wonder Woman and minor roles in Cyborg and Aquaman.

With Ben Affleck as the new Dark Knight and Henry Cavill returning as Superman, the film is already looking to be a success, take a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think.

The Jungle Book

That’s right, Walt Disney Pictures have decided to reboot the 1967 classic into a 3D live action adventure.

Giving the new film a more mature, mysterious feel to the movie, with great scenery, cast and computer animation, The Jungle Book is looking to be a movie that can only be described as “epic.”

The film looks to show us the harrowing dangers and trials that the protagonist goes through whilst living in the jungle. You especially get a sense of this in the latest trailer that we have below.

Miles Ahead

Miles Ahead portrays the life of one of the most influential people in Jazz music and music in general, Miles Davis.

Directed by and starring Don Cheadle as the famous Jazz trumpeter, Miles Ahead takes a look into the life and music of Miles Davis; this is looking to be an awe-inspiring biopic and definitely one to watch for anyone who is a fan of Miles Davis, Jazz, or like to gain some insight into the genre and/or artist.

10 Cloverfield Lane

In this mystery sci-fi drama, after waking up from a car accident, Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) finds herself in the basement of Howard Stambler (John Goodman) who claims to have saved her from a chemical attack that has left the outside world uninhabitable.

Not much is known so far, but produced by director J.J. Abrams (Star Trek: Into Darkness, Star Wars: The Force Awakens), a solid premise and a decent cast should be a good mix and based on the trailer, it’s guaranteed to put shivers down your spine and make your hairs stand on end.

Hardcore Henry

Hardcore Henry is looking to be one hell of a crazy film! With Haley Bennett (The Equalizer), Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs) and Sharlto Chopley (District 9) this first person action film will have everything from explosions and ridiculous fight scenes to futuristic gadgets and cybernetics.

With similar vibes that most films starring Sharlto Chopley give off (Chappie, Elysium, and District 9) Hardcore Henry should be a good film for anyone who enjoys action, sleek futuristic looking CGI and environments as well as quirky yet subtle comedy.
