Critical’s summer BBQ went off.
As sun rained down on London over the Bank Holiday weekend, a storm was brewing at Studio 338. The Greenwich venue famed for its garden and jaw dropping Terrace, was hosting the Critical Sound Summer Sonics BBQ and shit was getting real.
First impressions count and walking in with Halogenix rinsing his banging ‘Blej’ out, we knew we’d hit the ground running. He carried on hammering the terrace with wonky basslines till his time was up and handed over to Sam Binga who opened with a sick selection of garage and bassline.
Over in the garden, jungle ruled supreme as S.P.Y presented his Dubplate Style with a mad selection of artists throughout the day. Dead Man Chest pulled off a masterclass set, and as time went on things only got harder with Full Cycle’s Krust, Bladerunner and S.P.Y all steppeing up and rinsing things out.
Back on the Terrace, due to the birth of his son Serum was had the mighty Benny L take his place. A leading figure in the London scene right now, Benny torn the place apart with his trademark bass tones and upfront bangers. Leaving the floor in chaos Emperor went up next and took his turn at battering the place.
Enei followed suit before handing over to label boss, Kasra. He masterfully mixed stacks of music to a packed and energetic Terrace. After Kasra’s assault was over it was time for the legendary DJ Marky to step up, closing the party the only way the man can.
This was Critical’s biggest event to date and it went off! Everything from the DJs, crowd and weather was sick. Until next time maximum respect, Critical.
