Mampi Swift is back, L Plus drop a huge album sampler and Heist locks into Headz

Drum and Bass | Monday 2nd May 2016 | Arren

The very best from last week's drum & bass. A sure way to help you recover from the Bank Holiday madness!

Mampi Swift - I Exist [Charge]

The man, the legend, yes ladies and gentleman the don Mampi Swift is back! He returns with a huge main room banger. Working a 'Gold Dust' / 'Borrowed Time' styled synth line with epic results, Mampi makes sure everyone will stop in their tracks making for a prime, hands-in-the-air moments. Following is Rene LaVice's remix of 'Soliders'. Huge!

L Plus - Timelapse / Creatures Must Die [Technique]

It's the first taster from their debut Hideout. He goes full-on crazy, with two main room blasters. Setting things off is 'Timelapse' - a rowdy stomper with mighty portions of bass. Taking a turn for the technical, 'Creatures Must Die' gets a little murky with room shaking basstones. A huge sampler, if the rest of the album is this same standard then we're all in for a treat!

Serum - Species / Blood Red [ThirtyOne]

The drum & bass veteran, Serum drops some hard edged grit on Doc Scott's label. Dark, grimey but maintaining a little funk the long time drum & bass artist gives us real evidence as to why he's remained a constant all this time. Serum explained that both tracks are 'inspired by the original Virus releases' and they sure are. There a sick pair of tracks that'll get the darken club rooms bouncing.

Heist - Violent Rain [Metalheadz]

Long time Metalheadz affiliate and usual jump up head, Heist is back on Headz with a huge EP. He switches from his usual jump up style for a true Headz style. Deep, pure, organic tracks with pulsating basslines and melodic synths are at play throughout. Heist has given a lot of thought to the Metalheadz style and has produced 6 very different tracks that all suit the label perfectly.

Vital Elements & Micky Finn - So Good / True Guidance [Serial Killaz]

This duo has produced some pure magic - a dancefloor smasher. Vital Elements, one half of the Serial Killaz, and Micky Finn worked all the magic from the drum & bass of early 2000s into 'So Good'. It has a great vocal hook from a personal favourite of Finn's, with an all encompassing drop. Following is the huge dancefloor weapon, 'True Guidance'. They mash up jungle, jump up and that sick neurofunk snare into 5 minutes of excellence.

Surplus & Subdivision - 808 Games EP [Celsius]

Finally getting it's full release, Surplus & Subdivision drop 4 liquid anthems on Rotterdam's Celsius. They descend into darker terrtories with 'Alpha' and '808 Games' sitting moody basslines over smooth drums. In starke contrast, 'Ella' and 'Reflections' are real blissful, with sweet uplifting tones lightening the mood.

Dominator & Nu Elementz - Dimension / Spartanz [Sweet Tooth]

Jump Up's biggest imprint delievers a big collab. Dominator & Nu Elementz have teamed up and produced a pair of no bullshit, in your face jump up. They've been some of the most ID'd tracks so far this year, so a huge release from the Sweet Tooth crew.

Apache - Foreign Soul EP [Influenza]

Smooth, relaxed liquid tunes. Packed with soul and positive vibes, Apache’s Foreign Soul finally got fully released. They work their magic with two blissful tracks that will sound just as expect on your tube journey home as they do in the clubs.
