The British Urban Film Festival returns to promote diversity in cinema

Other | Tuesday 29th May 2018 | David

The British Urban Film Festival returns with an exciting new line-up of urban independent cinema screening in six London venues over the course of one week.

The festival kicks off this coming Monday with the BUFF Awards, in which British director Amma Asante (A United Kingdom, Belle) will be honoured for her contributions to British cinema. The next day will see the UK premiere of the festival’s first original production, No Shade, a drama that offers a black British perspective on issues of colourism.

The week’s line-up of 40 films will also include an array of shorts showcasing the work of up-and-coming black and female talent, along with the closing night premiere of Two Graves, a new thriller starring Katie Jarvis of Fish Tank fame.

Almost 13 years since its founding, the British Urban Film Festival remains a leading supporter of diversity in film.

The 2018 British Urban Film Festival runs 4th - 9th June. Book your tickets here.
