Oscar Nominated Animated Film 'The Red Turtle' Arrives In UK Cinemas!
When it comes to Japanese animation, Studio Ghibli are the absolute kings. The animation company have been responsible for some of the finest traditionally animated films of all time, including My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, and the Oscar-winning Spirited Away (which grossed an incredible $274,925,095 worldwide).
Although Ghibli was restructured back in 2014 due to the retirement of their founder and key figure Hayao Miyazaki, they did work alongside European studio Wild Bunch on the breathtaking new animated movie The Red Turtle, which is now playing in cinemas across the UK.
Released in Japan and the US last year and earning an Oscar nomination for 'Best Animated Feature', The Red Turtle tells the story of a man stranded on a desert island who befriends a mysterious red-scaled reptile.
Directed by Michaël Dudok de Wit, who won an Oscar for his earlier film Father and Daughter, The Red Turtle runs for eighty minutes and features almost no dialogue, making it the very definition of a visual experience. Definitely be sure to give this magnificent experience a watch.
