Future X-Men movies no longer focusing on Magneto and Professor X

Those who are familiar with the X-Men franchise will know that the whole franchise revolves around Magneto and Professor X.
Whilst Wolverine may be the most popular character amongst fans, it is hard to argue that Charles Xavier and Erik Lechner are not the main linchpin of the entire franchise.
However, this may no longer be the case.
X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who has worked on every movie in the series, recently spoke to Vanity Fair about the future of the franchise and she mentioned that the Magneto-Professor X dynamic would not be as crucial going forward.
“We cannot, once again, explore the Erik/Charles dynamic.” She said. Donner continued to state that the characters were “always essential” to X-Men however “there are other stories to tell.”
The first trilogy first showcased the differences of both characters, as we were introduced to Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen’s versions of Charles Xavier and Magneto, as they oversaw the younger cast at the time. Since then, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender have explored the backstory of their love-hate friendship in the recent reboot.
It’s clear that this is a story that has been told abundant amount of times, and with the future of the franchise seemingly stacked out with Deadpool 2 in the works. As well as production set to begin for main series entry Supernova and spin-off New Mutants, it is exciting to see new stories explored.
