Jack Nicholson To Star In Toni Erdmann Remake

After a long hiatus, Jack Nicholson is finally ready for a triumphant comeback.

He may be one of the finest actors of our generation, but Jack Nicholson hasn't starred in a single film since the critical and commercial failure of How Do You know, back in 2010. But that's all about to change, as Variety have learned that he's going the headline a remake of the Oscar nominated German film Toni Erdmann.

Released last year, Toni Erdmann told the story of a joke-loving father who tries to reconnect with his estranged daughter by posing as an outrageous alter ego. Nicholson has a knack for playing eccentric and oddball characters, this sounds like a role which in which he will excel.

Maren Ade, who directed the original will serve as producer on the remake. Also onboard as producers are The Big Short and Step Brothers director Adam McKay, along with actor Will Ferrell via their production company Gary Sanchez Productions. A director has yet to be confirmed.

Nicholson was apparently such a big fan of Toni Erdmann that he worked with Brad Grey of Paramount to secure the rights to the remake. The legendary actor has won Oscars for his perfomances in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Terms of Endearment, and As Good As It Gets, so it's about time he made a comeback.
