This Is The End Red-Band Trailer debuts on April’s Fool, is not a joke (but might as well be)

Tuesday 2nd April 2013 | Osh

As a clever April’s Fool marketing ploy, Columbia Pictures has released a trailer for what claims to be the sequel to the 2008 hit Pineapple Express. The trailer starts off legit enough, but after a minute it becomes obvious that this is just another April’s Fool joke. The twist, however, comes at the end, revealing that the whole promo was in fact a teaser for the upcoming comedy This Is the End.

Soon enough, a proper red-band trailer for the film was released, courtesy of Machinima. Check out both trailers below (warning: NSFW):

Directed by Evan Goldberg (who wrote Superbad and Pineapple Express) and Seth Rogen (who starred in Superbad and Pineapple Express), This Is the End follows six friends who survives the Apocalypse, and must come to terms with their fate, all the while learning the true meanings of friendship and redemption.

The trailer looks fun enough (if a little too spoilery), but I just can’t shake off the feeling that this film will end up being too crude to be funny (ala The Watch). Still, watching Hermione Granger rob Seth Rogen will make my day anytime.
