Brighten up your Monday
Monday 18th March 2013 | Therese
It's the start of yet another week and us mere mortals unfortunately have to deal with the tragedy which is universally known as the dreaded Monday Blues.
We all have our ways of dealing with it, whether it's with a loved one, a pet or the Happy Hour at the local pub. However, on some occasions, the best way of getting by is by allowing oneself the pleasure of entering someone else's life for a couple of hours. That is ultimately what film does; it allows us to live vicariously through people who lead far more interesting lives than ours.
So this Monday, why don't you check out 'Some Like it Hot?'
An oldie, but a goodie, 'Some Like it Hot' features the 1950's bombshell, Marilyn Monroe, as well as the comedic talents of Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. As the two male leads witness a mafia shooting, they are forced to hide with an all girl band, disguised as women themselves, in order to escape a painful and gruesome death. As expected when the band is led by none other than miss Monroe, complications will arise because what is a good film without a love plot-line? I'm not sure, but 'Some Like it Hot' won't let us find out. However, love is a lot tricker when you're dressed up as the other gender and a lot more hilarious too! So today, find your favorite snack, cancel the phone call you've planned with your mum, and enjoy a fun film while lounging on the couch.
