Lincoln makes surprise appearance at NY Film Fest

Lincoln set to scoop up awards after NY Film Festival screening.
I’ve always been a fan of a good political biopic. W. (dub-ya), Nixon, Frost/Nixon, The Iron Lady, JFK. If done well they can resonate and tell the side to a story that not everyone may be aware of, giving politicians a human side, something that they apparently have. Lincoln is the latest epic from Steven Spielberg which is already set to take home an Oscar or three.
The film made a surprise appearance at the New York Film Festival to the delight of critics who are raving about it. Tie this in with the American Presidential elections just around the corner, a whole nation with politics at the forefront of their mind and Spielberg might have just made himself a winner.
That being said, in a Q & A session after the screening, Spielberg did say to the audience that what they had just watched was ’unfinished’. In numerous interviews the 65 year old director said that he pushed back the release date until after the 2012 elections for fear that the film would face endless political scrutiny.
Two time Academy Award winner Daniel Day Lewis is at the helm playing President Abraham Lincoln during the last four months of his life and during the abolishment of slavery. The film also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Field and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Lincoln will be released in the US on November 14th with a UK release in January 2013.
