The producers of Juno are bringing us The Perks of Being a Wallflower, out in cinemas on 3rd October.
The film is based on the critically acclaimed novel of the same name, by Stephen Chbosky, who not only wrote the book, but also wrote the screenplay and directed the film. He obviously had a clear vision as to how he wanted the book to be translated to the silver screen, which as we know can be a difficult task. It is common for films not to be able to live up to the depth of a novel, here’s hoping the Chbosky has mastered this challenge.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a coming-of-age story that takes us through the highs and lows of being a teenager and growing up. Charlie (Logan Lerman) is a freshman that feels like no one notices him, that is until seniors Sam (Emma Watson) and Patrick (Ezra Miller) take him under their wing and introduce him to the real world. We’re taken on a journey of love, loss, fear, hope and friendship, the film is said to be both funny and touching.
Looks like we could have stumbled across one of those rare teen movies that actually offers us more than just hot boys and girls faffing around some sport or popularity contest for an hour and a half. We have high hopes for The Perks of Being a Wallflower, check out the trailer bellow:
