An incredible 15 years after the initial release of the film, The Coen Brother’s classic, Fargo, is making a comeback, Television Style. Yes, MGM and FX are teaming up to produce a 1-hour long drama based on it’s original feature-length version starring Frances McDormand as a pregnant police officer from a small town in North Dakota.
Incredibly this will be the second attempt to turn the film into a television enterprise, but the original shot back in 2003, only aired one tragic episode and reportedly did not have the support of the Coens’. But this time, the brothers are well and truly on board and therefore, hopefully we can expect good things as they are still continuing to produce filmic gold. In the past, they have accumulated eleven Academy Award Nominations (as well as two under their alias Roderick Jaynes) including the win for Best Original Screenplay for Fargo’s script.
Trying to imagine how they will extend the film into multiple series is difficult. Some wonder whether it might purely just be about crimes within the isolated town or whether some of our favourite characters might appear, Marge obviously being the number one request from fans. Well, whatever it may be, we are excited about it. And, although it’s still a while off yet, the Coen’s have a new film, Gambit, starring Colin Firth hitting cinemas in November and it looks brilliant. Check out the trailer for that below.
