Apparently this autumn is all about guns, car chases... and well a lot of killing. If its action films that you love then you’re in for a treat over the next few months.
Dark Knight Rises kick started our gun-ho season and if you’ve seen it, you’ll know that calling it an action film is probably an understatement. But the new Batman film was just the beginning, take a look at some of the kick-ass films that will be dominating our cinema screens this autumn:
· Django Unchained
· Dredd
· End of Watch
· Killing Them Softly
· Lawless
· Looper
· Skyfall
· The Sweeney
· Taken 2
· Total Recall
I mean that’s quite a list, but I’m not complaining at all because I am seriously into action movies. Even though all these films may fit into the same genre, they all bring something different to the table. Well expect Total Recall, not only is it a re-make but I’m pretty sure the whole killer spy with memory loss thing has been done...it’s basically Bourne...with robots.
For me, Lawless and Dark Knight Rises were two of the best films of 2012 so far, just absolutely epic, but I’ve still got so many others to get through...hello Orange Wednesdays! One that has grabbed by attention is writer and director, Rian Johnson’s Looper. The film is set in 2072, where when the mob decide that they want someone dead, they send them 30years into the past, along with the assassin that will kill them. And Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a looper that has to ‘close the loop’ by bringing back his future self Old Joe (Bruce Willis), and killing him. I’m not even too sure if I understand the rest of the plot but just from the trailer I am already hooked and needless to say...looks pretty action packed. Take a look and see if it has the same effect on you:
