Robocop (2014) Trailer Preview

Hollywood continues its onslaught of movie reboots, this time a remake of the 1987 sci-fi flick RoboCop, which looks to reinvigorate the franchise in a big way.
Set in 2028, Omnicorp has created an unstoppable artificial intelligence, with the trailer showing a full-headed Samuel L Jackson and ever excellent Gary Oldman at the helm of it all. Joel Kinnerman stars as Alex Murphy, dedicated cop and father, who is attacked on duty, only to wake up more machine then man.
The trailer emphasises Alex's conflict to hold on to his humanity as the brains at Omnicorp push him to become a weapon of mass destruction. Look for an emotional layer to the film absent from many of the typical large budget superhero blockbusters of today. Think Iron Man, with less humour and more heart. The project has had several stops and starts over the last decade but it looks like it has finally all come together and expectations are high.
Joel Kinnerman, a big time actor from Sweden, has seen his profile in the United States rise over the last couple of years thanks to his supporting roles in 2011's remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (with Daniel Craig) and 2012's Safe House (alongside Denzel Washington and Ryan Raynolds). Easily his biggest role stateside, Robocop could potentially make him a house hold name.
