Love The Weeknd you'll LOVE these artists

RnB/Hip Hop | Thursday 23rd February 2017 | Parmis

Before ‘that ovo and that xo’ sound that now hijacks the airwaves, we had nothing – and needed nothing – but the Trilogy album.

Who could forget the tortured falsettos from The Weeknd dropping dangerous lyrics in a way that made you believe it was a love song?

Five years later and we’re entering a new age of hip hop and R&B: genres that were once presumed dead in the early 2000’s. A new age where men are applauded in lyrically crying and spilling their emotions through soft beats and moody undertones.

The leaders of this new movement included the likes of The Weeknd, Frank Ocean and Tory Lanez. Now it’s time for the new batch.

Johnny Rain – With a slow, sensual sound that signifies emotional suffering, we’re catapulted back to the rawness that first drew us to the allure of The Weeknd. Johnny Rain, at only 23 years old, is sure to follow in his pattern. For a taste, check out his beautiful single - Harveston Lake.

Jez Dior – A bad boy with a blunt tongue to match. With solid beats accompanied by the gritty lyrics of a relaxed Californian, Jez Dior has yet to fail to produce a fire single. Be sure to check out Leather and Old No.7 ft G-Eazy.

Jordan Hollywood – Another artist whose tunes will have you moving before you hear the chorus. Each song brings a whole new vibe and replays like a welcome infection in your mind. Have a listen to ‘DMX’ and 10 shots ft Torey Lanez, lil Durk and Yo Gotti.
