Dojo come with a sick message in Chant Them Down

Reggae | Tuesday 5th July 2016 | Annalisa

Recent events in the UK have left much unrest and chaos across the country. The awful acts of prejudice and racism being carried out across the UK in the wake of the EU referendum have prompted London based reggae & jazz collective, Dojo to release Chant Them Down, a song with an important message.

Accompanying the release on Facebook, they posted "Our hearts are heavy in the wake of recent events in the UK. Morally reprehensible acts of prejudice have been legitimised and institutionalised by the power-hungry scaremongers. Irrespective of our political beliefs, now is the time to show understanding and compassion to all our brothers and sisters. This is our message to the haters, the liars, the back-stabbers."

Sell me an excuse or a scapegoat
Give me covenant for a bank note
Tell me there’s a reason why, I am poor or I am broken
Show me you’re a man of the people
Prove me you and I, we are equal
Teach me how you want to help, feed the poor and save the hopeless

Hear me now, hear me now, the words I am saying
Feel me now, feel me now, the hopes I am praying
Think about, think about, our children they are waiting
For the earth, it is ours, only for a day

Babylon soldier on a warpath
Slay your enemy, become a blood-bath
Power and riches are, the reward for, your indiscretion now
Sell a platitude when you see pain
Tell the voter what we need is change
Expensing your luxuries while the poor man, he has nothing

Hear me now, hear me now, the words I am saying
Feel me now, feel me now, the hopes I am praying
Think about, think about, our children they are waiting
For the earth, it is ours, only for a day

We’re going to chant them down, chant them down, chant them down no
We’re going to chant them down, chant them down, chant them down no
We’re going to chant them down, chant them down, chant them down no
We’re going to chant them down, chant them down, chant them down no

Politician, we follow in your wake, we know when you’re lying
We know when you, using immigrant, the youth, the poor
Use them as a whipping boy, big mistake yes
Because we're world patriots, we lionise Gaia, following the path of Bapu yes we
Find providence in the exponents of the greater good
Read the manifesto, knowing what they understood

Hear me now, hear me now, the words I am saying
Feel me now, feel me now, the hopes I am praying
Think about, think about, our children they are waiting
For the earth, it is ours, only for a day

We’re going to chant them down, chant them down, chant them down no
We’re going to chant them down, chant them down, chant them down no
We’re going to chant them down, chant them down, chant them down no
We’re going to chant them down, chant them down, chant them down no
