In recent years, Superhero movies have been dominating the blockbuster releases, and 2016 is no different. With three releases from DC and three from Marvel confirmed for release throughout the year, their popularity clearly isn’t waning (excuse the pun). Below are the six huge films due for release, each featuring massive names from all over the movie industry:
Deadpool (Marvel) - 10th February

Intended to be the eighth installment of Marvel’s X-Men series, Deadpool introduces the character of Wade Wilson, who, after a life-threatening accident, uses his newly-found super powers (and dark, twisted wit) to hunt down the man who nearly caused his death.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (DC) - 25th March
Director: Zack Snyder
Notable Actors: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Lauren Cohan, Jesse Eisenberg, Michael Shannon, Gal Gadot
DC’s two most iconic characters pitted against each other in a clash of the titans… what more could you want? As an added bonus, we will be introduced to Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg for the first time in a live-action theatrical release.
Captain America: Civil War (Marvel) - 29th April

Cap’ returns for a third outing in Civil War, in which the Avengers continue to defend the world from evil, but a rift in the group causes them to turn on each other. After ‘borrowing’ Spiderman back from Sony, we shall be treated to seeing the web-slinger choose between the rival factions for the first time, as well as Ant-Man, Falcon and The Vision.
X-Men: Apocalypse (Marvel) - 19th May

The X-Men will return to our screens in May for the ninth time, although this time without Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen for the first time. After waking from thousands of years in slumber, the first mutant, Apocalypse is not happy, and decides he wants to ‘cleanse’ the world, Godspeed Professor X and co.!
Suicide Squad (DC) - 5th August

A secret government agency decides to hire various imprisoned supervillains to complete dangerous black ops missions in return for mercy. Jared Leto brings back the infamous Joker in maniacal fashion, accompanied by Harley Quinn, Enchantress, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc and various others. Letting all these villains out of prison is bound to be a good idea, right?
Doctor Strange (DC) - 28th October

After the world’s top neurosurgeon, Stephen Strange, is badly injured in a car accident, he is forced to pack-in work. Along the path to recovery, he meets The Ancient One, a mysterious sorcerer who coaches Strange to use the ‘Mystic Arts’ to defend the world from evil, thus becoming… Doctor Strange!
