Shaggy And Friends Are A Hit Reggae | Monday 11th January 2016 | Tom Charity Shaggy Established by Jamaican musician Shaggy in 2009, ‘Shaggy and Friends’ is a charity concert that occurs every two years. The event has been hugely successful, raising millions of dollars, with all proceeds going to the Bustamante Charity Hospital - the only children's hospital on the island. The 2016 showcase held at Jamaica House, Kingston was to be no exception to the success of previous years. Shaggy himself, Sean Kingston, Ashanti, OMI, En Vogue and Beenie Man were just some of the many entertainers who took to the stage in the name of charity. 15 years ago Shaggy was visiting a friend's child who had been admitted to the hospital, realising the scale in which the hospital was underfunded he vowed to try everything to meet the hospital's needs, starting the ‘Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation’ which established the concert. Amazingly Shaggy has got on board many artists who are not only huge names, but have a real passion for Jamaica, people who really care about the children living on the island. The concert is now a huge event in the Jamaican music calendar, so check it out and give Shaggy your support!
