How to Change the World: The film about Greenpeace’s foundation

How to Change the World depicts the beginning of Greenpeace’s movement.
A group of Vancouver-based activists have found themselves starting a global, social movement. With footage from an organisational archive, Jerry Rothwell’s documentary focuses on the human dynamics of the Greenpeace movement, particularly on the role of late leader Bob Hunter.
The documentary describes in detail the progress and the gradual process of growth of Greenpeace, and at the end the disillusionment of Hunter himself, who returned to high-profile environmental journalism before his death in 2005 due to cancer. He found himself caught between conflicting notions of Greenpeace’s mission. The key figures of today’s Greenpeace are Paul Watson and Patrick Moore, who were at the head of Greenpeace's pyramid and are now "fighting" for a leadership role.
The archive footage is helped and enriched by tracks from Joni Mitchell, Pink Floyd and more - they give a real sense of period to the film and work well with Lesley Barber’s orchestral score. Barry Pepper is the perfect choice to interpret and describe passages from Hunter’s writings.
