The 20/20 Experience

Friday 22nd March 2013 | Ronnie

The first half of Justin Timberlake's 20/20 Experience, produced by Timbaland, has officially been finished with its release on March 19, 2013. However, Timberlake announced on the 18th that what has been released is only the first half of the real series. The date of completion for the 20/20 experience is set to be in November, later this year.

This leaves much to be anticipated as two of the first half album's songs have reached the top five tiers of the Billboard Hot 100. 'Suit and Tie,'  which features hip hop legend Jay-Z, lead the album as the figurehead song when it was pre-released on January 14th. It was almost instantaneously a top hit as it soon reached number five on the music charts internationally

Two months later with the release of the album itself, another one of his songs would peak the charts. This tune was titled 'Mirrors' allegedly inspired by Justin's newly wed wife, Jessica Biel, as well as Timberlake's grandparents who had celebrated 67 years of marriage together. The song quickly became a hit peaked at rank one on the UK charts. The recently wed couple was married on the 19th of October 2012 after they had started dating in 2007.

The first half of the album itself features 10 songs summing up to be about 70 minutes worth of content averaging each song to be about 7 minutes long. It has earned fantastic reviews from critics complimenting the albums diversity and variety especially in its way of fighting back against the traditional music of these times. However not everyone has been a fan of Timberlake's critically acclaimed album. Not long ago Kanye West had some beef with 'Suit and Tie' after he said Timberlake was buying into companies asking him to promote styles. However this was eventually dropped as new news filtered it out.

Each of Timberlake's tunes in the 20/20 experience so far have had a great variety. Timberlake has introduced some funky styles into the mainstream. A specific example of this is his song titled 'Blue Ocean Floor' which plays in reverse with some funky beats.

It is interesting to see Timberlake's success with his unique style in the music industry and there is much to be expected from how he intends to finish off his so far great album. Until then, go check out the album!
