The long awaited film of the year has seen an early release and fans are over-joyed - however, Peter Jackson is nowhere to be seen. Instead Tower House prep school’s boys are standing around 4ft tall.
The school that produced Tom Hardy and Robert Pattinson - there must be something beautiful in that water - have created their very own Hobbit film on a shoestring. Seventy boys, aged eight to thirteen. star in this blockbuster that was shot at various locations in the UK. The 90 minute long saga, was produced on quite the budget compared to what is expected from Jackson. Of course boys will be boys, and most of the budget was spent on a CGI dragon, and why the heck not? Talented as the Hobbit sized stars are, these boys couldn’t do it all alone and with the help of a student's father’s company, the piece was produced and edited to a standard far from novice.
Paul Geary, the head of drama and director of the film, commented: "It was our ambition to do something totally unique, something no other school has ever done. As far as I am aware we are the first prep school to do a full feature-length film."
The film premiered at the Curzon Renoir Cinema in Russell Square, a cinema famed for its connection to films from established auteurs and new world cinema talent. Paparazzi bombarded the cinema in the form of proud parents and wind on Kodak cameras.
