If you have walked down a busy street in London, hopped on a tube or turned on the TV you would undoubtedly have seen advertisement for Disney Pixar’s latest movie Brave. I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this one. As the first film by the creators of UP and Toy Story, to have a female heroine it is sure to be a truly refreshing experience.
The film will star formidable actors such as Billy Connolly, his ever humorous self as King Fergus, the multi-talented Emma Thompson as Queen Elinor and Boardwalk Empire sweetheart Kelly McDonald as the main protagonist and heroine Merida.
Brave centres on the story of 10th century Scottish princess Merida. Now not wanting to give too much away and spoil this thrilling tale, I will tell you that it follows Merida’s fight for independence from marrying some rather loveable but certainly not marriageable fellows from other prominent clans, a witch, a bear and a spell. Sounds exciting right?!
When I first read about Brave in a Time Magazine article several months ago, I had a strong feeling that it was going to be brilliant and I don’t think I’ll be disappointed. Too juicy for words, with this red headed, strong and independent heroine I shall be eagerly watching, popcorn and ice-cream in hand. A score for the little hero in all of us!
