Another genre of cinema

Monday 13th August 2012 | Osh

Are you fed up with blockbusters and rubbish movies? Did you stop going to the cinema since you bought a ticket for £20? Do you prefer to go to McDonald's when you can’t decide which cinema to go at Trafalgar Square? London is full of cinemas but it is not easy to find a cheap place to watch good movies. We open the curtains on the best unknown places.

Cheap movies

Prince Charles Cinema – Leicester Square

While the weekday shows cost only £8.00 (other shows are at about £12.00), it is possible to pay even less. Indeed, if you buy a membership card (£10.00 a year, £50.00 forever) all shows will cost £4.00. The membership card is thus a profitable investment that is indispensable for all you moviegoers.

Coronet Cinema – Notting Hill

Situated in a former theatre, it is almost impossible to find a cheaper cinema. From Wednesday to Sunday tickets cost £7.50, but on Monday and Tuesday the Coronet is actually super cheap. If you are student you will pay £3.50 on Mondays, if not, we hope that you are free on Tuesday! Every Tuesday, all shows for everybody are also £3.50. We advise, however, that you book on the beforehand - obviously you will not be the only one who wants to enjoy the discount!

Roxy Bar & Screen - Borough

Come to Roxy Bar & Screen and enjoy a movie in a friendly atmosphere. You will only have to pay the bills of your night, which include the projection.

Watch classic movies

Cine Lumiere – South Kensington

All the movies are French but don't worry, this includes English subtitles. On Sunday the Ciné Lumiere is the perfect place to (re)discover French classic cinema.

BFI Southbank- South Bank

The British Film Institute offers a large choice of classic movies from Hitchcock to Kubrick for about £10.00.

Watch world cinema movies

Rio Cinema – Hackney

Rio is an independent cinema offering a large panel of world cinema. If commercial movies aren't your thing, this will leave you fulfilled. The cinema frequently organises events around one genre or one movie director, and tickets cost about £10.00 - an affordable price to discover some treasures.

Tricycle Cinema – Brondesbury

Tricycle is not only a cinema but also a theatre and a gallery. Small and independent, this cinema brings moviegoers together around world and independent movies.

Cineworld Cinemas & Odeon cinemas

Situated in several places in London, the Cinewold Cinemas offer a large choice of Bollywood movies for the Hindi film industry lovers. Some of the Odeon cinemas (Wimbledon, Greenwich and Marble Arch among others) also give the opportunity to watch Bollywood movies.

You no longer have an excuses to not go to the cinema - have a good time!
