Today will go down in history as the day that film casting officially took a deep, dark turn. It all started out so normally with Jamie Dornan, long rumoured to be the next Mr Grey, being today confirmed, and the world went back to normal. But then, came a very odd announcement...
Tom Hardy, will be playing Elton John in an upcoming biopic.
Hardy, who has previously played Bane in the last of the Dark Knight trilogy, will star in Rocketman, which will be written by Lee Hall, who was nominated for an Oscar for his screenplay for Billy Elliot. The film follows John, from his previous existence as Reginald Dwight, to his transformation into the man we all know and love: Sir Elton John.
Can you see the resemblance?
It sounds like the makings of a very good film, Elton John has led a fascinating life, and with Hall and Hardy on board, there is some serious talent involved, but in all honesty, if someone said to you, who would you cast as Elton John, would you immediately jump to Tom Hardy? Very odd indeed.
