America’s Worst Grandpa Gets His Own Movie
Friday 2nd August 2013 | Ayse
For many, the release of only one Jackass movie just wasn’t enough, and since 2002 fans have been hungry for another motion picture capturing Knoxville and Co.’s toe- curling antics. Well, fans are about to have their wishes granted with the latest addition to the Jackass stable. Paramount have released a trailer for new ‘mockumentary’ Bad Grandpa, which seems to read as a disturbing but undoubtedly accurate prophecy of how the stars of Jackass will be spending the winter of their lives, 40 years from now.
Rather than becoming gardening enthusiasts or taking out a timeshare in Florida, Knoxville is donning prosthetic wrinkles and setting out on a road trip across the USA, to prank and shock the ever- entertaining and unsuspecting American general public. The film is semi-improvised and captures the genuine reactions of the victims on hidden cameras.
The overarching plot of the film centres around Knoxville’s character, Irving Zisman, a character who has featured on Jackass before, and Jackson Nicoll as his grandson Bill. Irving and Bill are on the cross country drive to Bill’s father, and over the course of the trip the hijinks that transpire are just as controversial and ingenious as Knoxville has become acclaimed for and fans have come to love.
Proving once again that the American public are a minefield of comedic potential, Bad Grandpa will be exploding into cinemas on October 25th 2013, with a tenacity and vigour that will undoubtedly have us hooked and along for the ride. It’s gritty, it’s to the line, it’s all American, and it’s coming soon!
