Krept & Konan celebrate '7 days/7 Nights' til Christmas with 2 fire mixtapes!

RnB/Hip Hop | Tuesday 19th December 2017 | Ngachung

Krept & Konan are the British rap duo from London who have followed up on their promise of releasing not one, but two mixtapes – titled: 7 Days and the other titled: 7 Nights.

Both projects play on opposite feels of sound. 7 Days has more of a club vibe, with grittier beats and a harder-edged feel that plays to the grime scene the duo are bred from, including features from prominent grime and hip/hop artists like J Hus, Skepta, Stormzy, and Abra Cadabra. 7 Nights, on the other hand, plays more to the R&B, chilled type vibes, featuring the likes of Jhene Aiko and Tory Lanez.

One of the favourite songs, currently listed 4th most popular track on their Spotify, is “Get a Stack” ft. JHUS. Check out the video below.

The most interesting aspect of the release is the underlying messages embedded. For example, Krept is sure to highlight his stance on feminism with a feminist freestyle on the 7 Days track titled ‘Cold Summer’. Lyrics such as “Gotta give praise to a woman/ Every one of us came from a woman/ I was raised by a woman”, although is a reference to a similar line in the 2Pac track ‘Keep Ya Head Up’, strays away from the typical representation of women in rap.  Indeed, as Krept said to NME, he “wanted to pay homage to the woman in my life”, like Stormzy, who casted his mum in the video for ‘Know Me From’.
