Enjoy this string of music videos brimming with positivity from the Minneapolis-based hip hop label.
With an extensive and highly imposing roster including the likes of true wordsmith Aesop Rock, underground dream team Stepbrothers (aka The Alchemist & Evidence) and the elusive MF Doom, Rhymesayers Entertainment have firmly established themselves as heavyweights in the independent/alternative hip hop scene.
In the tradition of conscious female emcees such as Bahamadia and Jean Grae and following on from her well received 2015 album ‘Gift Of The Magi’, Sa-Roc is a seriously talented emcee known for her inspirational civil rights and feminist commentary. She has recently released the short, socially conscious track ‘I Am Her’. With her soundly original style she delivers bars covering a variety of issues including abortion, reparations and the male/female pay gap.
Definitely a track and an artist for the strong ladies and Queen Bey gals out there.
Another top artist on the label is hip hop veteran Brother Ali, in promotion of his new LP The Beauty in This Whole Life set for release on May 5th, the 'all about self-empowerment' rapper has released his latest single 'Own Light (What Hearts Are For)', in a video filmed to a beautiful Pacific North West backdrop.
Having featured prominently over the years in the U.S hip hop scene, Brother Ali has cut tracks with artists such as Sage Francis and R.A The Rugged Man, as well Rhymesayers founders, Atmosphere.
Known as one-half of The Stepbrothers and as a third of West Coast indy hip hop giants Dilated Peoples, Evidence is one of the most distinctive voices you will likely ever hear in the game.
The rapper hasn't dropped a solo LP since 2011's 'Cats And Dogs' which featured rap royalty of the likes of Raekwon and Prodigy of Mobb Deep.
‘Throw It All Away’ features super mellow production from The Alchemist backed by Evidence’s introspective and at times sentimental bars conveying socially positive feelings and non-materialistic values. We can only expect an LP any time now.
Keep an eye out for more dope releases from all the artists on Rhymesayers Entertainment throughout this year!
