Charlotte Dos Santos is a Norwegian-born soul and jazz singer/producer. Her interesting fusion of musical styles is informed by her own ancestry, raised with Brazilian heritage in a Scandinavian country and now living in the USA.

Dos Santos makes music as part of Mutual Intentions, “an Oslo based crew unified by their work in music and visual arts,” which includes rapper Ivan Ave (who performs at Birthdays on 5th February). ‘Watching You’ is a great example of her laidback neo-soul style, released to sold out vinyl as part of a Mutual Intentions compilation project on Jakarta Records in July.

Dos Santos’ latest release sees her draw on her Latina heritage, recording a reworking of Puerto Rican bandleader Bobby Valentín’s 1969 track, ‘Si Yo Te Ame (If I Love You).” The afro-cuban vibe sounds great with the more angular elements of Dos Santos’ voice and sets her apart from contemporaries in the genre.

An EP is expected to drop in Spring 2016, so keep your eyes peeled for news from Dos Santos. We’ll keep you posted on a live date in London - judging by the below video it’s a show worth attending, with a tight live band on deck.
