Best rooftop bar in... Shoreditch!
ATC presents @ Shoreditch House - 07/06/2013

4:59 PM. The sun is shining and London’s streets patiently await the stampede about to emerge from offices across the city.
5:00 PM. POW! I burst from the door and sprint for the closest watering hole in the sun, but alas every pub and bar is already full to the brim of people with exactly the same idea as me. It reminds me of the frenzy of feeding time at the zoo. If only there were some way to have a drink away from the hoards of people clamouring for the three square metres of pavement where you actually get the sun.
One thing is for sure, summer is here and London is buzzing. It’s a great shame that more of London’s rooftops aren’t used for bars and other meeting places, they get the sun for longer and lift you out of the noise and pollution of street level traffic. The rooftop at Shoreditch House is perhaps the epitome of the cool place to take someone in summer. Friends, clients, a date, your mum... you name it, a view over East London and the smart but relaxed atmosphere is guaranteed to impress. The outdoor areas are kitted out with cushioned sun loungers as big a double bed, and the inside looks like a tropical beach house in the Maldives. There is even a heated swimming pool. Shoreditch House is usually off limits to non-members, but tonight our good friends at ATC Management are throwing a party showcasing some of the hottest talent in UK electronic music. We were invited to come and take a peek (and maybe have a drink or two).
Bondax’s ascent has shown no signs of slowing since their popular release ‘Gold’ on Justus/Relentless at the beginning of the year, remixed by Snakehips and played out in clubs all over the country. Their positive style of soul sprinkled feelgood pop was a great soundtrack to watching the sun set behind London’s skyline. They are set to appear at a number of festivals in Europe over the summer months as well as heading out to Croatia and Ibiza. Selection by Snakehips was adventurous and put a smile on everyone’s faces. UK Garage’s arm waving revival has been due in part to Manchester based producer XXXY’s propulsive steppy sound and he did not disappoint on the night. Seriously sunny vibes were delivered in from both him and Micachu as she gave us a taste of her ongoing collaboration with Tirzah. All of this complemented by soul veteran Ross Allen.
Great spot, great music and great vibes. Life doesn’t get much better.
