Sean Baker, Denis Villeneuve, Steve McQueen among the Screen Talks at the BFI London Film Festival 2024
Once again, the BFI London Film Festival will host the annual Screen Talks, featuring an impressive star-studded lineup. This year’s event includes notable names such as Sean Baker, who recently won the Palme d’Or at Cannes for Anora; Andrea Arnold, acclaimed for American Honey; Denis Villeneuve, the visionary behind Dune; Steve McQueen, presenting his latest film Blitz; Lupita Nyong’o, star of Black Panther; and Zoe Saldaña, who stars in Emilia Pérez, among many others.
Denis Villeneuve, who has masterfully brought the epic Dune to the big screen, will share insights into his career and the challenges of adapting such a beloved science fiction saga (Saturday, October 12, 11:30am — Southbank Centre). Sean Baker, fresh from his Cannes triumph with Anora, will discuss his filmography, exploring the themes and stories that have shaped his work (October 12, 1:30pm — Curzon Soho Screen 1).
Steve McQueen, whose film Blitz has been selected as the Opening Night Gala feature at the LFF, will delve into the making of his latest project while also reflecting on his previous work in both film and television (October 9, 2:00pm — BFI Southbank NFT1). Andrea Arnold, known for her storytelling in films like Fish Tank and American Honey, will share her experience with the creative process (October 19, 12:30pm — BFI Southbank NFT1).
Additionally, Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, the co-directors of Nyad, will discuss their unique approach to filmmaking (October 13, 3:00pm — BFI Southbank NFT3). Actors Zoe Saldaña (October 12, 3:00pm — BFI Southbank NFT1), Lupita Nyong’o (October 14, 12:30pm — BFI Southbank NFT1), and Daniel Kaluuya (October 9, 11:30am — Picturehouse Central) will revisit their careers, sharing experiences and insights from their past and current projects.
