Blooming 1920s. World war I. The US. F.Scott Fidzgerald . Roaring jungle where the dreams are made of and the sinking morals of society.
It was 1922, they say that the temper of the city had changed sharply. The buildings were even higher, the parties were bigger, the morals were looser and liquors cheaper. The restlessness approached. Hysteria.
Based on the iconic novel, Baz Lurhmann (the writer, director and producer) narrates the story of young wanna-be writer Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) chasing his American dream who finds himself renting the flat next to the mansion of Jay Gatsby ( Leonardo DiCaprio).
The plot culminates around the affair of Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan (lovely Carey Mulligan), Carraway’s cousin. Thrilling story about power, killer parties, money, fame and fashion.
The most fabulous costumes for The Great Gatsby film were designed by Miuccia Prada, the Italian designer who had previously collaborated with Luhrman on Romeo + Juliet.
The great expectations of the film have been built up even more, when on 21st January 40 sketches of Miu Miu and Prada gowns for Carey’s wardrobe were published.
Catherine Martin, the film’s costume designer, set our hopes high with glamorous flapper and fringed dresses, deluxe silk gowns, sequins and embroidery, which makes us, ladies, desperate.
The film will be distributed by Warner Bros in both-3D and 2D.
Get ready for the huge premiere on 10th May, 2013!
