Beasts of The Southern Wild - released 19th October

Welcome to the Bathtub...
Beasts of The Southern Wild follows the story of Hushpuppy (Quvenzhane Wallis) , a spirited young girl living with her father Wink (Dwight Henry) in “the Bathtub”, a southern Delta bayou community. As the plot unravels, Wink becomes unwell with a mysterious malaise and a colossal storm ravages the Delta. Hushpuppy struggles to survive whilst ice-caps melt, resurrecting primitive beasts who begin to encroach upon her beloved ramshackled neighbourhood. The six-year-old survives on a combination of courage, defiance, and strong wit in this brutal landscape.
Benh Zeitlin’s apocalyptic debut feature-film touches on modern environmental concerns in it’s fantasy-tinged reality. Using a cast of local non-actors for it’s lead roles, and produced on a low budget, Beasts of The Southern Wild promises to be home-grown art at it’s best.
Winner of the Camera d'Or at Cannes and the US Dramatic Grand Jury Prize in Sundance, Beasts of The Southern Wild screened last week as part of the BFI London Film Festival, and will be released in cinemas on 19th October.
