New Mad Max Trailer and it’s Absolutely Batshit Insane. Other | Thursday 11th December 2014 | Gareth Warner Brothers just dropped a trailer for the new Mad Max and it’s absolutely batshit insane. George Miller returns from the Happy Feet wilderness to direct what will be the fourth film in this long-running dystopian franchise and based on the footage revitalised with the kind of form that made 1998’s Babe: Pig in the City so unexpectedly dope. The digital cinematography and 70s pulpy sci-fi vibes feel simultaneously antiquated and contemporary, with CGI artfully intertwined with in-camera effects and real stunt work. Miller is literally painting explosions with his mise-en-scene and the entire thing is set to Verdi's Requiem Dies Irae, adding another layer of bombast to this beautifully constructed trailer. Mad Max: Fury Road is scheduled for a May 2015 release.
