Lord Zion is a man with ambition. He sings for SpiT LiKE ThiS, sells offensive clothing at smellyourmum.com, loves Porsches and has recently written, produced, co-directed and acted in a film called Meet the Cadavers, a mixture of The Munsters, The Addams Family and The Inbetweeners except with a slight difference: the Cadavers are a zombie family.
As a big fan of comedy, horror and obscurity, Zion wanted to create a low budget series of films which incorporates all three of these and after much experimentation, hard work and fun, he has succeeded.
Written in June 2013, the film is set for release in 2014. Before that, however, the film's extended trailer will début in the UK and Cannes Film Festival in May (a full diary of events can be seen at http://www.meetthecadavers.com/diary.html).
I've been following the progress of the film on Facebook and Zion has clearly put a lot of work into his début film (although this is actually the second screenplay he has written), writing out first and second drafts, casting actors (including Esme Brand who will be playing Tracy), attending interviews for magazines and websites such as TBFM, metalmouth.net and EGL Magazine and is now working on the editing process which is expected to take around 10 weeks to complete.
Other actors include Zion's partner Vikki Spit (Kelly Cadaver), Jack Adams (Sidney Cadaver), Karl Smith (Barnaby) and Chloe Powell as Myrtle Cadaver. Of course, we can't forget to mention that legendary metal DJ Steve “Krusher” Joule who has worked with bands such as Motorhead, Sammy Hagar, Blondie and Girlshool will be starring in the film as Felix.
Having followed Zion on Facebook and Twitter for some time now, I have “experienced” his humourous side which, although bad, is so in a good and very British way, clearly taking influence from the Carry On and Monty Python films of which I'm hoping will be incorporated into Meet the Cadavers.
Having been a fan of SpiT LiKE ThiS and wearer of Smell Your Mum clothing for a number of years I'm getting increasingly excited about the release of Meet the Cadavers and you should too! Check out the links below for more info, pictures and blog posts on the film.
