Multi-Platinum hit producer Cimo Fränkel shares 'Never Give Up'

Other | Monday 30th October 2017 | Lilly

With a decade of experience in the music business, the rising talent has already written a score of hits - including the multi-Platinum ‘Sex’, performed by Cheat Codes & Kris Kross Amsterdam which has almost 450 million Spotify plays to date, going Gold in the USA, double Platinum in the UK, quadruple Platinum in the Netherlands, and gathering 7 more Platinum awards in other countries.

In addition to this Cimo has worked with notorious labels in the past such as Spinnin Records and Armada gaining Cimo Fränkel over 6 million views on Youtube, paving the way for opportunities to feature on records with internationally acclaimed artists such as Armin van Buuren, Daddy’s Groove, Wildstylez, and EDX, as well as supporting Armin van Buuren at multiple sold-out arena shows, including the LA Forum and Amsterdam Arena on his 2016 ‘Armin Only’ Tour.

Cimo has also gained critical acclaim through publications and tastemaker Youtube channels such as Chill Nation, Indie Nation, Earmilk, EDM Sauce, Discobelle and many more.

Growing up in Amsterdam, Cimo’s father was in a funk band and raised him on a diet of impromptu studio visits and the notorious DIY ethos of funk culture. “My father was a singer and part of a band in the 80's. I grew up with my dad who was always encouraging my brother and myself to learn and freestyle music. I've always loved to create, music was the most obvious lane within the creative spectrum” he says.

At the tender age of 15, Cimo started experimenting with music production. The first fruits of Fränkel’s labour were reaped with ‘Mooie Dag’ (‘Beautiful Day’), a song co-written with and performed by Jayh Jawson. It went double Platinum in the Netherlands, and after that, things went fast for Cimo. He helped catapult Yellow Claw to international fame co-writing ‘Shotgun’ (ft. Rochelle), gathering over 120 million YouTube views to date.

Having earned his spurs collaborating with others, Cimo Fränkel has become more than adept at every facet of the creation of pop music. High time, then, to start his own one-man show. ‘Occasional Love’, Cimo’s first solo single, was released in February 2017, its reggae-infused, poppy vibes set the stage for a lot more home-made material to come.

Drawing from his experience working in different genres and taking a cue from Michael Jackson, his greatest idol, Cimo never restricts himself to a single sound. Citing inspiration from a diverse selection of artists, from Fleetwood Mac to Usher, there is only one constant to his solo material: it’s poppy, catchy and intimate.

Cimo Fränkel’s latest single ‘Never Give Up’ invites the listener on a seductive, yet groove-fueled journey across sun-kissed cityscapes. A level-headed bass guitar strolls in alongside clicked percussion, as Cimo’s crisp vocals kick in - the atmosphere brightens beyond belief, proving that this may just be your next favourite thing.

Speaking of the track Cimo says: "Little sounds is what I wanted for this release. I wanted it to be an acoustic guitar based song... without the acoustic. For some stupid reason after I finished all the original recordings of 'Never Give Up', my computer crashed and I had to rebuild most of the song including the vocal takes. I'm happy it happened because I prefer this version over the original demo.
